Free cycling activities in the West Midlands
We're partnering with local community groups to offer free training sessions where you can improve your bike riding skills, learn how to fix your bike, and join guided rides. These sessions are perfect for beginners or people who don't cycle often.
You may not even need a bike to join—check with your local group before booking your slot to see what's available.
This programme of free events will be running all summer in the West Midlands to make sure that adults of all ages, backgrounds and abilities can discover the joys of cycling.
Learn to fix
Get your bike ready for the road. Our learn to fix sessions offer fun and easy-to-follow training on how to make sure your bike is safe to ride.
Discover the basics and understand how to:
- Fix a puncture
- Adjust a saddle
- Maintain brakes and gears
- Give your bike a health check to make sure it is safe to ride
- Recognise a fault you can't fix and know where to get it sorted
Learn to ride
Have fun learning to ride a bike. Whether it’s for the very first time or you’re looking to progress your skills, our range of sessions are here to help.
Get set to cycle: Build your confidence to ride and learn essential cycling skills with support from friendly experts. These sessions are held in traffic-free places like parks or empty car parks. The ideal beginners' session.
Feel road safe: Get comfortable on various routes, including bridleways, cycle paths, and residential streets. These sessions will help you get used to riding alongside other road users. Feel confident on your next short journey, whether it's to the shops, your nan's house, or the mosque.
Boost ride confidence: Master cycling in traffic and learn to use different types of roads. These sessions will grow your skills and help you reach all the places you can go by bike. Go further than you ever could before.
